Tourism Malaysia and Singapore Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding on 26 May 2026 at The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, formalising a year-long partnership aimed at increasing international arrivals under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. The agreement, effective immediately, focuses on joint marketing to travellers in Europe, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific.

What the Partnership Covers

The two organisations will collaborate on coordinated promotions, targeted campaigns, and improved seat access for international markets that connect through Singapore Changi Airport en route to Malaysia. Singapore Airlines’ global network — particularly its European and Australasian routes — gives Tourism Malaysia access to high-value traveller segments that the partnership is designed to attract.

Malaysia is targeting 35.6 million international visitors in 2026, aiming to generate RM147.1 billion in tourism receipts. In Q1 2026, the country welcomed a record 10.6 million arrivals — a 5.4 per cent year-on-year increase — with China, Australia, and India leading growth.

What This Means for Visitors

For travellers, the practical benefit is more marketing visibility — but the underlying journey is already compelling. Kuala Lumpur is well connected to Singapore Changi via multiple daily SIA Group flights, providing easy onward connections to Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Langkawi. The MOU reinforces connectivity options that already exist while expanding awareness of Malaysia in markets that may not yet have it on their radar.

Visit Malaysia 2026 in Context

The campaign is the most ambitious tourism push Malaysia has mounted, with 21 new international routes launched in December 2025 to coincide with the campaign year. Malaysia Airlines has also expanded frequencies to China, Australia, and Japan, and AirBorneo launched new Borneo-to-regional services from January 2026.

For travellers planning a visit this year, now is a good time to check whether promotional fares tied to the Visit Malaysia campaign are available through Singapore Airlines or Malaysia Airlines codeshares.
