Malaysia Airlines announced the cancellation of two Kuala Lumpur–Taipei flights on 9 July 2026, citing the approach of Super Typhoon Bavi towards Taiwan. Flight MH366 (Kuala Lumpur to Taipei) and flight MH367 (Taipei to Kuala Lumpur), both scheduled for 11 July, are affected.

Passengers booked on the cancelled services are advised to contact Malaysia Airlines directly to rebook or claim a full refund.

Typhoon Bavi Impact on Taiwan

Typhoon Bavi - carrying sustained winds of up to 180 km/h at its peak - was tracking towards Taiwan at time of cancellation, with forecasters warning of rainfall totals of up to one metre in mountainous areas. Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration issued typhoon sea warnings, and Taipei Taoyuan International Airport began progressively cancelling and delaying international services from 10 July onwards.

Multiple other carriers serving the Kuala Lumpur–Taipei route, including AirAsia and EVA Air, are also assessing the need for additional cancellations.

Other Malaysia-Linked Disruptions

Separately, routes from Kuala Lumpur to Gulf destinations including Dubai and Doha are experiencing disruption due to the ongoing Middle East regional tensions affecting broader airspace. Malaysia Airlines had previously suspended Kuala Lumpur–Doha flights and is monitoring the situation.

Travellers connecting through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from Southeast Asian points to destinations in the Middle East, Taiwan, or Japan should verify their entire routing before departure.
