AirAsia X Resumes Direct Kuala Lumpur–Busan Flights
AirAsia X resumed direct service between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Busan’s Gimhae International Airport (PUS) on 17 June 2026, operating four flights per week on Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Departures from KLIA are scheduled at 02:20, arriving in Busan at 09:45; the return flight departs Busan at 11:00 and lands in Kuala Lumpur at 16:30. Flight time is approximately six and a half hours in each direction.
The service runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and is bookable through to 30 November 2026. Economy fares start from RM299 one way; Premium Flatbed (lie-flat seats) starts at RM999. The route makes Busan AirAsia X’s 21st destination globally and its second South Korean city after Seoul, meaning travellers can combine both destinations without a separate inter-country flight.
Busan is South Korea’s second-largest city and offers a different flavour from Seoul: coastal beaches at Haeundae and Gwangalli, the colourful Gamcheon Culture Village, fresh seafood at Jagalchi Market, and easier access to Gyeongju’s ancient temples and Silla kingdom ruins. The Busan Cinema Center also hosts the Busan International Film Festival in October, which falls within the operating period of this route.
For travellers departing from Kuala Lumpur, KLIA Terminal 1 is where AirAsia X operates, separate from the budget terminal KLIA2 used by AirAsia’s domestic and short-haul network. Allow ample transit time if connecting from other Malaysian cities.
The resumption strengthens Malaysia’s connectivity to South Korea at a time when both tourism boards are pushing mutual visitor growth.
